Spinal Fracture Expert Witnesses

Spinal fracture refers to a break in one or more of the vertebrae forming the spinal column. It can result from significant trauma or occur in weakened bone, particularly in people with osteoporosis. Cases involving vertebral fractures can raise complex medico-legal questions. These may relate to the mechanism of injury, recognition, diagnosis, imaging, neurological assessment, causation, treatment, surgical intervention and subsequent outcomes. NICE recommends urgent imaging where spinal injury is suspected and sets out specific pathways for CT, MRI and X-ray assessment. Our spinal and orthopaedic expert witnesses can provide independent, evidence-based medico-legal opinions and reports. Experts may review medical records, spinal imaging, neurological assessments, operative documentation and rehabilitation records. They can provide an opinion on matters within their specialist area of expertise.
