Miss Nadia Muspratt-Tucker

Miss Nadia Muspratt‑Tucker serves as a Consultant Obstetrician within the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where she also leads Quality Improvement and Risk Management for the maternity service. After obtaining her medical degree from University College London, she completed obstetrics and gynaecology training in Thames Valley, gaining advanced competence in high‑risk pregnancy, advanced labour‑ward practice and labour‑ward lead. Her day‑to‑day clinical work spans the full spectrum of obstetric care, from the management of complex pregnancies and intrapartum emergencies to operative vaginal deliveries, caesarean sections, and the care of women experiencing postpartum haemorrhage, obstetric anal sphincter injury or stillbirth. In addition to her clinical duties, Miss Muspratt‑Tucker holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in Medical Ethics and Law from the University of Edinburgh, a qualification that underpins her specialised expertise in consent, ethical decision‑making and medico‑legal analysis within obstetric practice.

Miss Muspratt‑Tucker’s clinical passions are centred on high‑risk pregnancy and intrapartum care, with particular proficiency in operative vaginal delivery, complex caesarean section techniques and cardiotocograph (CTG) interpretation. She is deeply engaged in reducing obstetric anal sphincter injury (OASI) and birth‑related trauma, improving outcomes for postpartum haemorrhage, and addressing the emotional and clinical ramifications of stillbirth. A broader commitment to maternal safety drives her interest in perinatal mental health, the nuances of informed consent during childbirth, and the development of personalised care plans that respect each woman’s values and preferences.

Miss Muspratt Tucker’s research agenda focuses on birth trauma, operative vaginal delivery, and consent within obstetrics, aiming to elevate safety and patient experience during labour. She is actively involved in perinatal safety initiatives, simulation based training, and qualitative investigations of maternity care pathways. Her long standing academic involvement in medical ethics is reflected in a five year tenure as an expert member of the Oxford C Research Ethics Committee, where she evaluated complex research proposals and guided ethical governance.

A recognized educator, Miss Muspratt Tucker is a certified mMOET instructor and the Regional Lead for the ABC Impacted Fetal Head Programme, promoting safer operative birth techniques across the United Kingdom. She delivers simulation based obstetric emergency training, multidisciplinary team development sessions, and undergraduate teaching. Her educational portfolio also includes faculty development, active bystander programmes, and a focus on human factors engineering, workplace culture and team performance in high stress clinical environments.

Miss Muspratt Tucker has authored a range of peer reviewed articles covering obstetric practice, consent, medical ethics and patient safety. Recent work investigates clinicians’ and patients’ perceptions of consent for operative vaginal delivery, while earlier contributions include national reviews on differential attainment in medical training and genetic research into inherited retinal disease. Collectively, her publications illustrate a multidisciplinary perspective that bridges clinical obstetrics, ethical governance and experiential patient research.

In her role as Quality Improvement and Risk Management Lead for maternity at Oxford University Hospitals, Miss Muspratt Tucker oversees patient safety investigations, governance processes and service level enhancements. She has recently been appointed a Specialty Advisor to the Care Quality Commission, where she contributes to the regulation and quality assurance of healthcare services nationally. Additionally, she serves as a Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) Peer Supporter, providing confidential assistance to consultants facing professional difficulties.
